I own a 1997 232 and Cobalt produced this model from '96-'01. This thread is dedicated to all owners to post questions, tips, mods, etc. that are specific to this model so we can all learn from each other.

Here it is... if you have a 1996-2001 232, this is your place!

I own a 1999 Cobalt 232. The engine compartment cover motor makes a loud grinding noise while operating. Any recommendations as to how to service it?

Check the fluid level in the pump. I would also make sure the rams don’t have any rust on them. My 262 was slow but steady and wasn’t exactly quiet.

I'm not sure how to check the fluid level. I don't see an access area. I did grease the grease zerk.

The pump may be located to the rear of you engine. Follow the lines from the rams down into the engine compartment.

Thank you, Walt. I found the electrical lines and they appear to be hooked up. I guess I'll take the boat back to the shop. The gauge worked before I took it in lasts time. I still feel they have failed to address something. Hope so anyway.
