Do we have anyone that has participated in any of the West Michigan Offshore events. I have communicated with the group and they sound terrific. However, we only have a 226 and before we pull the trigger on membership - was wondering if out smaller boat could run with the big dogs at their events. We go to lake Michigan a few times a season but our son wants to do a poker run - just to do it (to be honest so do I)

Sorry you haven't received an answer yet. We just don't get enough off-season activity....yet.

You ask a great question tho.... Maybe you should ask an organizer of the West Michigan Offshore Club your question. Here is a link to the "Contact" page of their website with several email addresses. I bet you could get your answers there.

If you do a Poker Run with them on Lake Michigan please take lots of pictures and post the experience for all of us here.

Shawn, thanks for taking the time for the response. Lord willing this winter we hope to run up to Grand Rapids for their Boat Show- and I've been told West Michigan Offshore typically has a booth and a performance boat on display. I thought I would be able to get a better feel for what this is all about. All I know when the stars align on the big lake you can't beat it - However, going out isn't to be taken lightly.

    Take care and again thanks

Hi everyone -- YES SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER !!!

Had an opportunity to meet with the West Michigan Offshore in Grand Rapids - I joined this group and it sounds like a blast. I think the thing that is really neat - if you look at where they have the poker runs or fun runs there is a substantial inland lake that is associated with the "big boy" runs. Long and short from what I was told there are a number of folks that will stay within the smaller lake if Lake Michigan is too rough and run around there. It really sounds like a group of folks that really love the water and boating - I've already made hotel reservations for the Muskegon run in June and Lord willing the lake will cooperate with us !!!!

HI everyone - thought I would share some of my "limited" experiences with Michigan West Coast Offshore - First let me tell you that I couldn't have asked to meet a better group of people - yes there were a few party hardy folks but the folks that I got to hang with were just down to earth boat loving critters ! All of the water activities for 2018 basically got rained out. Muskegeon Power Boat weekend for the most part was a bust. The weather front wouldn't budge and it rained like a cow peeing on a flat rock. Rock the Coast wasn't much better- However, the lunches that were arranged were just great. We were still able to raise a fair amount of money for "Make a Wish". Regarding the boats - most that were there were over the top (like 200 lifestyles away). I just loved them

My son and I were able to run at Hardy Dam (a little south of Big Rapids, Michigan) which was interesting to say the least. The water level was a little low and we had to watch out for floating stuffs-

Later in the summer we were out on Lake Michigan and really had a great ride - from South Haven to Holland with a stop at Saugatuck - The wave forecast was less than 1' -- they lied-- let's put it this way - we know the engine rev limiter works very well !!! We caught more air - and just had a blast - My wife is still talking about the fuel cost that we went thru that day !!! Boat ran perfect - as a side bar I'm trying to arrange a "Cobalt Fun Run" in July August 2019 around the Holland Michigan area. You can check this on Facebook - Cobalt Boats - If there are any of you in that area that have an interest send me a message.

take care and think spring !!

I grew up on Lake Michigan and my parents kept the family 25’ SeaRay in a slip just off the lake. We ran it a lot between Saugatuck and Grand Haven. There were a number of times we wished we had another 5’ or so of boat and twin engines. We even crossed the lake to Chicago.
